89. The Dawn

In the name of God, the All Gracious, the All Merciful

 

 

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

                                                    وَالْفَجْرِ

By the dawn.

 

5993 3250 230 178 1620 2

                                                وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

By the ten nights.

 

5994 3251 231 179 1621 3

                                           وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ

By the even and the odd.

 

5995 3252 232 180 4

                                           وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ

By the night as it passes.

                           هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ

Is there in these an oath for those who possess intelligence?

                             أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

Do you not see what your Lord did to the Aad?

                                         إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ

Eram, founded on pillars?

 

5999 3256 236 184 8

                            الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلادِ

The likes of which were not created in any city.

 

6000 3257 237 185 9

                        وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ

And to the Thamoud who carved mansions in the rocks in the valley?

 

6001 3258 238 186 10

                                     وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الأوْتَادِ

And to Pharaoh, possessor of might?

 

6002 3259 239 187 1624 11

                                    الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلادِ

All of them transgressed on the lands.

 

6003 3260 240 188 12

                                      فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ

Then spread corruption therein.  

 

6004 3261 241 189 1625 13

                        فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ

Consequently, He poured upon them a whipping punishment.

 

6005 3262 242 190 14

                                      إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ

Indeed your Lord is ever watchful.

 

6006 3263 243 191 15

   فَأَمَّا الإنْسَنُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ

Then every time the human being is tested by His Lord, and He honors him and blesses him, he says; my Lord has honored me.

    وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ

But when He puts him to a test and then reduces his provisions, he then says; my Lord has humiliated me.

                                كَلا بَل لا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ

No absolutely not! It is you who has not honored the orphan.

 

6009 3266 246 194 18

                      وَلا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ

And have never encouraged feeding the poor.

 

6010 3267 247 195 1627 19

                               وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلا لَمًّا

And have devoured inheritance with greed.

 

6011 3268 248 196 20

                                 وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا

And you loved money with unending love.

 

6012 3269 249 197 21

                         كَلا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الأرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا

Absolutely, when the land is utterly pulverized,-

 

6013 3270 250 198 22

                          وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

-and your Lord comes as well as the angels, row after row,-

 

6014 3271 251 199 1628 23

     وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الإنْسَنُ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكْرَى

-on that day, Hell will be brought forth. On that day the human being will remember, but his remembrance will not be useful.
